The Big 25!!

Hello friends,

So this past month, I turned 25. Well, finally I am a quarter of a century. With all the ups and downs of this past years, I'm proud to say I've achieved all I ever wanted before I turned this age.

My Top 10 of these 25 years

  1. I danced ballet.
  2. I lived abroad.
  3. I went to a Broadway play.
  4. I started writing my own blog.
  5. I fell in love.
  6. I learned how to drive.
  7. I participated in a play.
  8. I graduated college.
  9. I won a scholarship.
  10. I made a female best friend.
This year was different from all the others being abroad for three months made me appreciate my family more. That is why I valued just spending time with them having a small family gathering which turned out to be great and all I've ever wanted.

As tradition goes for my birthday because I was born on the day of the epiphany, I buy myself a tiara and wear the whole day. Another tradition is the moving of the three wise men in the nativity set to the little barn where baby Jesus was born. That has been my duty for years now.

What's cooking?

So I have lots of followers on Instagram and the gift from one of these accounts was giving this DC Girl a REDSKINS cake made of gelatin. The cake was gorgeous and so delicious.

The menu for that day was barbecue wings, yucca with herbs, bruschetta, and herbs flavored sausages. My mom is a great cook and she made this meal with lots of love so it tasted amazing.

Why I hate birthdays?

This is silly but I do hate birthdays, and it's not because I'm afraid of getting old. It is just that it had such a strong meaning when I was growing up.
When I turned twelve my dad decided to abandon us, he barely called, but that one time he did he said he was going to come for my birthday. Long story short, he never came. As a kid, I used every birthday wish to make him come back after all I was daddy's little girl. Until that one day, I stopped believing in wishes and started accepting that maybe he was not coming back. It took me ten years to overcome one of the biggest heartbreaks of all, not having a dad. I just started finding the magic of celebrating life with my loved ones.

They say when you get to 25 is when you start living, well so I've heard. Because that is when you find your path, your drive, and your passion.
25 candles, they are just a number if you don't live it to the maximum. So they say: You only live once.

I'm grateful to God and my mom for helping me get here I couldn't have done it alone.

Maria
